Workshop at IITM 6-10 May Last date for sending applications: April 5

IIT Madras will be organizing a Workshop “Imaging Cinema: Emerging Trends in Filmmaking” from 6-10 May. At the end of the workshop participants will be equipped with sufficient knowledge and insight into the current trends in filmmaking. Focus will be on recent trends in Direction/Storytelling, and Cinematography.

An IIT Madras certificate of participation will be given at the end of the Workshop.


EXPERTS: Sessions will be conducted by experts in direction, cinematography and editing from India and Canada . Some of the resource people are:

HospitalityThe participants who require accomodation will be given accomadation within the campus. Hostel, which are Non A/C room, rent per day is Rs 150. DD must be drawn out in favour of : Chairman, Council of Wardens IIT Madras.
Guest House, A/C single room for 5-10th may (arrival 5th morning, departure 10th evening) is Rs 1500/- total. DD must be drawn out in favour of Taramani Guest House, IIT Madras.

Rules and Regulations

* Only papers within the scope of the subjects given will be accepted.
* Maximum 3 participants can be there in a team.
* Each team/participant can present any number of papers.
* The complete paper should be submitted on or before 14th March, 2010.
* Selected candidates will be intimated by eMail only.
* The registration fee for each participant is Rs. 300/-.
* The selected candidates can pay the registration fee on the day of the event. They may also take a DD in the name of “HOD, IPE, GITAM University“, payable at Visakhapatnam and post it in advance so as to reach us by 16th March, 2010 to the following address.

* The selected candidates are requested to bring along with them one soft copy (on CD) and two hard copies of the paper.
* Powerpoint presentation of the paper should not cross 15 slides.
* Presentation must be no longer than 10 minutes In that 7 minutes are given for the presentation from the candidates and 3 minutes are for the queries by the judges panel. During the question period, questions may be asked by judges or by the audience too.
* The paper must be either in *.doc or *.pdf format only.
* No changes will be accepted once the paper has been submitted.
* The Judges’ decision will be final.

Paper Format

* The paper must be in IEEE format. Typing should be done on only one side of an A/4 size paper with 1.5 line spacing. The font size should be 12, Times New Roman or Arial. The heading size may be as desired. Font color may be black or blue (or both). Color photos are allowed.
* The abstract and the main paper must be preceded by Cover Page specifying the Paper Title, the relevant field on which the paper is based, followed by each participants name, contact number, eMail ID, engineering branch and college/institution name.
* The abstract must be maximum 1 page long.
* The main paper must be of maximum 20 pages excluding the abstract and cover page.
* A comprehensive bibliography is expected at the end of the paper.
* The Judges’ decision will be final and undisputable.

This event is meant for well designed innovative models (working and/or non-working) related to any mechanical, electrical & civil engineering.
Rules and Regulations

* The model must not exceed beyond an area of 50cm x 50cm. Models, exceeding this area will be disqualified.
* The team has to carry an abstract of about 200 words which briefly describes the working of the model.
* The abstract should contain a brief idea of how the design could be presented (exhibited) during the exhibition.
* The cover page of the abstract should only contain title of the project, names of the team members, their contact numbers, their e-Mail ID’s and their respective institute names.
* Maximum number of members per team is 3.
* The registration of the event will take place on the day of event at GITAM University.
* The registrations are now OPEN. All participants are required to register online before hand.
* The last date for registering with submission of abstract is 14th March, 2010.
